Mihcael Cunningham

Michael Cunningham

Director

Michael has extensive experience in the regulation of energy, water and transport networks and in detailed productivity analysis. From late 2013 to late 2021, Michael was an Associate of Economic Insights, participating in and leading many projects in benchmarking and performance measurement, price determination, cost of capital and competition issues in a wide range of infrastructure industries. Prior to that, Michael was employed for more than a decade as a senior regulatory manager with the Essential Services Commission of Victoria and also has experience working in the Victorian gas industry. Michael has Master’s degrees in Economics and Commercial Law.

Associate Professor Dr Joe Hirschberg is a leading Australian applied economist and econometrician, who teaches econometrics in the Department of Economics, at the University of Melbourne. His research has been conducted in a variety of economic applications where he has used and developed several novel econometric techniques. These areas of application include studies of electricity demand, measuring productivity, labour market discrimination, international trade, income distribution, school funding, gambling behaviour, evaluation of courses in higher education, and research management.

Dr Liam Lenten

Dr Lenten has recent experience in both the public sector (eg. Essential Services Commission) and the private sector (eg. MST Marquee and Euler Capital). Prior to that, he was an academic at La Trobe University, and he is currently the Charles Goode Fellow in Economics at the University of Melbourne (Ormond College). As a senior economist by trade, Dr Lenten is a highly seasoned researcher, skilled in sophisticated applied econometric modelling techniques in both industry and policy matters—both macroeconomic and microeconomic in nature—as well as in financial markets. He has over 20 years of professional experience, including in the academic profession with many presenting and mainstream media contributions. At Quantonomics, his expertise offers meaningful real-world impact and adds value for clients and other various stakeholders, by applying his wide-ranging skills in a fresh setting, and brings more scientific rigour to existing practices in the corporate space.

Alice joined Quantonomics in September 2022 as an economic analyst and has played key roles in a range of consulting projects. Alice has a Master’s degree in economics and has strong applied economics and spreadsheet skills.
